(This is the final prompt for UNIT 2. You do NOT have to make a seperate speed project for this prompt)
For this prompt please produce a series of still images or video portraits depicting faces or people that “do not exist.”
Use ML powered tools to bend familiar digital faces into new portraits that reveal something that can not be captured using traditional photography. You can manipulate your own face, faces of people you know, or faces from popular culture. You could even paint a face to manipulate with digital tools. The tools we will explore for this prompt are: Photoshop’s neural filters, EBSynth and RunwayML
Photoshop’s neural filters
For a tutorial on Photoshop’s Neural filters, click here! You will need to download the most recent version of photoshop. See this link for downloading photoshop for free via NYU
Runway ML
Make a RunwayML account and open the interface in the browser.
Search for the “browse models” link on the home page in the bottom right corner and click on it.
Browse all models and search for First Order Motion Model
Watch this tutorial by Gene Kogan for RunwayML
EBSynth
Download EBSynth
Check out Halenur’s awesome writeup from her Unit 1 Final
Check out the tutorial below. For EBSynth you will need to break a video down into frames which can be done in photoshop by going to import –> video frames to layer and then export -> layers to files and be sure to UNCHECK visible layers only
